OMO: Week 27 in Review
Okay, let's make this quick. I have been having some severe technical difficulties this weekend and I'm scared that just looking too long at this shitty computer is going to cause it to crash again.
Sunday: Airplane!
I'd forgotten how funny this movie is. It makes all those "parody" movies that are out now seem even sadder in comparison.
Monday: Immortality
I may hate Jude Law a little bit. I don't know. Whenever he's in a movie he's either a whiny bitch or a smug asshole. Or both. In this one (also know as Wisdom of Crocodiles, I believe) he's a vampire that can only feed on the blood of women that love him because that's obviously more nutritious. It's actually filmed very well.
Tuesday: Sense and Sensibility
Holy shit, I loved this movie. Why the hell did Ang Lee ever think that he should make a superhero movie when stuff like this is obviously his calling in life? Kate Winslet and Emma Thompson are incredibly charming and I was rooting for Alan Rickman something awful.
Wednesday: Superbad
I thought it was funny and genuinely sweet in its raunchy center but it was nothing amazing. Seth Rogen and the other cop had the best scenes.
Thursday: Metropolis
I really need to get off the Fritz Lang bender. Although this is probably his most famous movie I'm going to risk sounding like a pretentious jackass and say that I think it's not his best. Visually it's absolutely stunning but the stories in M and in the Testament of Dr. Mabuse are way better.
Friday: Otis
Uh, I don't know. I like horror comedies like I love baby pandas but this one tried way too hard at times. It didn't seem to know if it wanted to be completely farcical or if it wanted me to care about the characters. The way it was done I really couldn't have done both.
Saturday: 30 Days of Night
Josh Hartnet always looks so sad. Even when he's happy or being kissed by attractive Canadian fire marshals his face is sad. Poor guy.
No link because I don't think the computer can handle me opening two windows at once but I will post again tonight (hopefully).
